#Austin powers spaceship movie#
There’s a really interesting, if not extremely clever, movie somewhere within Space Jam 2 but it takes its premise and uses it not as a biting satirical commentary on creativity and instead uses it as an excuse to cosplay Loony Toons in Warner Bros owned IP like The Matrix and Batman. The movie revolves around the idea that content creation is algorithmic and we’ve been reduced to mindless drones who happily be spoon-fed empty-calorie nostalgia. Space Jam 2 is a far cry from The Godfather Part II, but it’s also not trying to be more than the sum of its parts - which are actually pretty interesting. Space Jam, however, was also not a particularly elegant or stunning piece of cinema, so let’s stop pretending it was The Godfather when talking about how it stacks up against its sequel.

The first 15 minutes is one of the roughest stretches of film ever printed and released by a major studio. I’m going to be very honest with you all, Space Jam: A New Legacy is not a good film. How well it will age and survive is yet to be seen, although the initial reviews appear to indicate it’s dead on arrival. Here is every single one.Īfter over two decades of waiting, a Space Jam sequel was finally released into the world.

Space Jam: A New Legacy, also known as Space Jam 2, jam packs just about every single movie ever made into its story with one reference or another.
